Influential travel writer Peter Greenberg also travelled across Egypt and interviewed some familiar names.

Emmy-award winning journalist, television producer and jet-setting adventurer, Peter ‘The Travel Detective’ Greeneberg, has had quite the Egyptian adventure this week, after wrapping up a special episode of namesake travel show, The Travel Detective, on American network, PBS.

Greenberg met Minister of Tourism, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat during his travels

Greenberg, considered one of the most influential travel writers in the US, featured the Grand Egyptian Museum as part of a segment on hidden gems around the world, while also visiting the Pyramids, Old Cairo, Aswan, Nuweiba and Sharm El Sheikh. He rounded off his trip with a meeting with Egypt’s Minister of Tourism, Dr. Rania Al Mashat – their second this month, after Al Mashat was featured on Greenberg’s radio show at the World Travel Market in London, in which Egypt’s pavilion promoting tourism was one of the highlights.

Greenberg also recorded an episode of said radio show, Peter Greenberg Worldwide, which saw him interview General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum, Dr. Tariq Tawfiq, adventurer and mountaineer, Omar Samra, and record-breaking cyclist, Helmi Al-Saeed. Greenberg also interviewed several expats on their experiences in a show that aimed to present a different side of life in Egypt.

Greenberg has long been revered for the depth of his work, often immersing himself into cultures, as he has with Egypt over the years in reporting on its safety and tourism industry, bringing insight rarely seen on typical travel coverage.

The episode of The Travel Detective is set to air on PBS in January 2019.
